The MLS’s opening week was an amazing debut with some great wins. Former Barcelona and Manchester United Swedish superstar, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, came on in the 72nd minute for the LA Galaxy against their cross-town rivals LAFC. He then went on to score the game-tying goal with a volley from about 40 yards and the game winning goal to down their rivals 4-3. More locally, the Colorado Rapids opened their home account last weekend against the Philadelphia Union with a 3-0 win at home. Star striker, Dominique Badji, picked up all three goals for his first hat-trick in his career.

The Rapids are hoping to have a much better season than last year when they were the worst team in the MLS. New coach, Anthony Hudson, the former coach of the New Zealand national team, took over during the winter and brought on upwards of 10 new players to completely change to the team. The only players remaining in the starting lineup from last season are Badji, goalkeeper Tim Howard and midfielder Marlon Hairston.

The Rapids have also just signed new striker Yannick Boli as Hudson continues to look to strengthen the front line of the Rapids. Boli, who has played For Paris Saint-Germain and in China will be looking to add the goal scoring threat the Rapids have seemed to be lacking since they won the MLS cup back in 2010.

The Rapids will look to bolster the 3 points they already have with a game next weekend against defending champions Toronto F.C at home. The new look Rapids are looking better than ever and can hopefully pull off a great season.
